CCS Awards $20,000 Technology Grant to Valerie Gresser |
CCS Arizona awarded a $20,000 technology grant to Valerie Gresser, a first grade teacher at Superstition Springs Elementary School, part of Gilbert Public Schools. Ms. Gresser’s winning design focused on providing hands-on, interactive learning to students using the latest classroom technology with the goal of improving students’ learning comprehension. The award included the following equipment:
- SMART Board SB 680 interactive whiteboard
- NEC NP400 Projector
- eInstruction CPS Student Response System
- Mobi Wireless Slate
- AVerMedia CP 300 Document Camera
- Audio Enhancement Integrator System
- RM Tuff Cam - Four student digital/video cameras
- Epson Color Printer
- SMART Table
CCS collected grant applications between March and June 2009 and the winner was selected in July. Although CCS currently works with school districts throughout Maricopa County, this was the first time CCS requested classroom design proposals from local educators. Educator responses to the request outlined ideas to integrate education technology to improve teaching methods, while introducing new programs to students.
